Child Passenger Safety

The Williamson County Health Department is a fitting station for all children's car seats. Approximately 72% of car seats are installed or has the child restrained incorrectly.

Car seats can be checked and installed FOR FREE, Monday-Friday during normal business hours if a Child Passenger Safety Technician is available. Appointments can be made any time by calling: 615-465-5350 or emailing Brad Coutts:

The Safe-Ride program's mission is to equip caregivers with an appropriate child restraint device (car seat) if they are unable to due to a financial burden. Using an appropriate car seat, having it correctly installed and the child correctly restrained is proven to reduce death and injury during an automobile crash. The Safe-Ride program is funded through minority health grants. The availability of seats cannot be guaranteed. Program requirements be found on the right.

If you are in an emergency situation and need a car seat, please download and complete the application. The front must be completed in its entirety including a detailed explanation of need. The application should be returned to the Health Department and an appointment made for interview and mandatory caregiver training (approximately1 hour).
