Classification & Records
The classification office is open Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Any calls regarding out dates need to be made during these hours. The Booking Department does not calculate time and cannot give out dates.
Sentences over 30 days will not be calculated that day. You will have to wait 2 weeks to call our office before you can get information regarding an inmate’s release.
The Disciplinary Board is a group comprised of 3 civilians that listen to cases regarding inmates violating jail rules. They meet every Wednesday at 3 p.m. unless it is a holiday. They act as a jury for the jail and decide if the inmate is guilty or not of the infraction. If found guilty, the inmate is subject to loss of privileges including phones, T.V. and commissary. Their conviction may also cause them to lose credit for their sentence. If you feel that an inmate has lost credit after going to the Disciplinary Hearing Board, give it one week before you call to see how their out date has been effected.
Inmate’s serving state time (1 year of time or over) belong to the Tennessee Department of Corrections. They are just being housed in our local facility until a bed opens with the State. Their time is calculated by the State of Tennessee, not by us. We only submit work credit once a month for these inmates. That is our only involvement as far as their time.
The state is also responsible for setting the inmate’s parole hearing. The inmate will receive a letter at least 2 weeks prior to their hearing from the Tennessee Department of Probation and Parole.
Once an inmate is sent from our facility to the state prison, they will not be able to make calls right away. They will be classified and then sent to the prison that is aligned with their classification. If you would like to see where your inmate has been sent, you can go to tn.gov/bopp and click on the tab “For Information on Offenders.” Then click on “Search” and it will prompt you with the information that it needs from there.
